Signs Someone May Be a Victim of Human Trafficking



- Avoids eye contact and appears fearful around authorities or support staff.
- Accompanied by someone who speaks for them or closely monitors them.
- Provides inconsistent details or seems unsure about their own story.
- Speaks in rehearsed or scripted responses.
- Lacks official identification or personal documents.
- Unfamiliar with their surroundings or unsure of their location.
- Lies about their age or uses a false ID.
- Appears malnourished, hungry, or dehydrated.
- Uses slang commonly associated with the sex trade (e.g., "daddy," "pimp," "bottom").
- Shows signs of substance dependency.
- Struggles with memory, confusion, or dissociation.
- Experiences mental health challenges like depression, anxiety, or PTSD.
